CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Now legendary US Airways pilot Chesley Sullenberger made a return flight to Charlotte with his hero co-pilot Jeff Skiles on Friday.

Sully and Skiles flew a local DC-7 from the Carolina's Aviation Museum to benefit the Historical Flight Foundation, according to a news release.

The plane departed Opa Locka airport at 9 a.m. Friday morning and landed in Charlotte around 12:45 p.m.

The DC-7 is the same plane that has been featured in the TV show Pan Am.

Sullenberger and Skiles were at the controls of US Airways flight #1549 when they safely landed their plane in New York's Hudson River after both engines failed.
