CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police have identified a man who was killed in a motorcycle wreck in southwest Charlotte last week.
The wreck occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, in the 5000 block of Sandy Porter Road, south of Shopton Road.
According to the CMPD, the fatal victim was 20-year-old Roman Ivanovich Tenenika of 13004 Brown-Grier Road, Charlotte.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Tenenika entered the curve at a high rate of speed, and drove across the double yellow lane into the oncoming traffic lane.
The motorcycle drove off the left side of the road and struck an embankment. Tenenika was thrown from the motorcycle, the police report said.
Around 9:37 a.m., a construction worker in the area discovered Tenenika lying in a ditch along the side of the road.
The CMPD said Tenenika was wearing a helmet but he was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at 9:46 a.m.
