CATS holding "Picture This" photo contest | Arts & Culture

MECKLENBURG COUNTY - Think you have what it takes to win a photo contest? 

If so, it’s time to take out your camera and hop aboard public transit for the Charlotte Area Transit System’s (CATS) 2011 “Picture This” photography contest. 

CATS is looking for photos that cover a wide range of transit services. Pictures should depict the value and benefits of riding public transportation. The 2011 CATS' “Picture This” photography contest begins Monday, April 18 and ends on Saturday, April 30 at 12 p.m.  

All entries must be received via email at ridetransit.org.

Up to 50 of the best photos received will be posted for the public to vote on by May 6.  The 10 photos that receive the most votes will be featured on CATS transit passes for 2012. 

Of the 10 winners, the photo with the most votes overall will have their photo featured on the front of a LYNX ticket vending machine (TVM) ticket.   The remaining nine grand prize winners will have their photo featured on the nine pass types with the highest sales for FY11.  The 10 grand prize winners will each receive 12 monthly CATS transit passes for 2012. 

Remember that safety is foremost when out taking your pictures for the contest.  At no time should participants distract the bus or train operator, put other transit customers in danger or stand on or near train tracks when taking photos.
