WEST CHARLOTTE - Police say a robbery suspect fired a gun at a police Sergeant following an armed robbery in west Charlotte Friday night.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department received a call shortly before 8 p.m. at 235 Bradford Drive in reference to a robbery at a store.
The suspects were armed with handguns and demanded money from the clerk.
The victims handed over the cash and the suspects fled the scene in a white van with a 30-day tag.
A police Sergeant who was in the area spotted the suspects' vehicle which drove into the parking lot at Allenbrook Elementary School on Allenbrook Drive.
Four suspects in the van jumped and ran. One of the suspects turned and fired his weapon once at the Sergeant, the police department said.
The Sergeant did not return fire, the police department said. He was not injured.
Two of the suspects are described as black males. One was in his late teens, had a thin build and was wearing dark brown clothing. The other is described as wearing all black clothing.
